Lamu - a throwback from Swahili-Arab culture |

|

A visit to Lamu is like stepping into a time machine that takes you back to the 7th Century. The pace of life has hardly changed and fishermen still bring in their daily catch on dhows (hand made wooden vessels), streets are narrow and flat roofed, tall buildings with intricately carved wooden doors. A well curated museum showcases the literature, artefacts and culture of the early inhabitants. For the full Lamu experience plan to coincide your visit with the Lamu Cultural Festival in November.
