Day 1

Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to a Nairobi Hotel. Overnight, Briefing and packing of Mountain gear.

Day 2

Drive from Nairobi heading for Mt. Rock Hotel for an early lunch. Transfer to Sirimon Park Gate where your climb begins. (2600m). The hike takes 3-4 hours through natural forest, bamboo, rosewood and heather zones to Old Moses Camp (3300m). Overnight at Old Moses camp.

Day 3

Another 6 hours walk today takes you to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m). The trek is largely through the moorlands and the mackinder valley, with good views of the peaks and a brief stopover for picnic lunch. O/N at the camp.

Day 4

Your climb continues taking you round the peaks of Nellion and Batian, via Hausberg and Nanyuki Tarn to Two Tarn Hut. Two screeds up to 4600m will have to be passed. Lunch will be at the two Tarn Hut after which the hike continues down to Mackinder's Camp at 4200m in the Teleki Valley. Overnight will be at the Camp.

Day 5

After an early morning breakfast at 4.00 am, the trek leads via a steep screed to the Austrian Hut at 4790m. Here there will be a short break before the final ascend to point Lenana (4895m) via Lewis Glacier. You descend on the northern side via Simba Cole to the Mintos Hut (4200m) for lunch and continue down via the Chogoria route passing on the ridge of the Gorge valley overlooking Lake Michaelson to the carport for O/N in tents (3300m).

After breakfast, descend to the Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas at 3000m where vehicles will be waiting to take you to Chogoria. Transfer to your hotel in Nairobi. Safari programs after the climb can be organized for interested parties.

NB: During bad weather conditions, climbers may have some distance to walk towards Chogoria, as vehicles may not be able to pass. Climbers must bring along their own climbing gear.
