Gorilla Itinerary in Uganda PDF Print E-mail
This safari begins and ends in Entebbe.
4x4 Land Cruiser and Land Rover are used for this safari.

Safari in brief:

  1. Entebbe
  2. Kibale Forest National Park
  3. Bwindi 'Impenetrable' Forest
  4. Kampala

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe (Kampala)

Arrival Entebbe Airport (Uganda's Main Airport) on board your flight. Met and greeted and transferred to Kampala for a safari briefing. Later take an afternoon city of Kampala touring the Kasubi Tombs, Uganda Museum, Namugongo Bascillica and the Hindu Temples. Overnight at Kampala Sheraton Hotel (breakfast, lunch & dinner).

Day 2: Kibale Forest National Park

Head west after breakfast through Mubende arriving in Fort Portal for lunch. Later proceed to the Kibale Forest for a Nocturnal Walk tracking the Galagos, Bushbabies, Pottos and the Night Jars with the use of Flashlights. Dinner and overnight the Kibale Tented Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner).

Day 3: Kibale Forest National Park

ImageMorning breakfast, later start a half day forest walk in the forest on a primate eco walk. Look out for the Red Colubus (an endemic species only found in this forest in Uganda). Other primates include the chimpanzee, grey cheeked mangabeys and others. In the afternoon, take a swamp walk in Magombe for a more closer to nature encounter. Return to Kibale Tented Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner).

Day 4: Bwindi 'Impenetrable' Forest

Breakfast, later travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with picnic lunches (transit time: 6 hours). Drive through the Ishasha Plains the area famous for its tree-climbing lions. Arrive at Buhoma the gorilla staging area where dinner and overnight is at Gorilla Forest Camp (breakfast, lunch & dinner).

Day 5: Bwindi 'Impenetrable' Forest

Gorilla trekking starts after breakfast. The Gorillas are tracked by the rangers and trackers through the thick and steep vegetation. After viewing the gorillas, have your picnic lunch and return to Gorilla Forest Camp for a shower dinner and overnight (breakfast, lunch & dinner).
Trekking time: 30 minutes - 8 hours

Day 6: Drive back to Kampala

Take a scenic drive to Kampala, through the Mountainous area of Kigezi and the Ankole area with its long horned cattle before arriving Kampala in the evening. Night stay at the Sheraton Hotel (breakfast & lunch).
Trekking time: 8-9 hours

Day 7: Depart

Morning at leisure doing your last minute shopping in the city of Kampala. Return later in the day and transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight.
